I've been minister at Moordown Baptist Church in Bournemouth since 1997 after spending seventeen years pastoring a church in Buckinghamshire. I have a passion for explaining the Bible and its relevance to believers and unbelievers alike and try to do so in a clear and jargon-free manner. Jesus Christ is Lord of the universe and answers the deepest needs of people's hearts and souls. We all need forgiveness, acceptance and certainty; only Jesus truly gives those things.
Oh - and I've been happily married to Elaine for more than 30 years. We have two grown-up children, Joanne and Andrew, as well as three darling granddaughters - Abigail (20.5.08), Anna (29.8.09) and Emma (3.1.10).
If one poor soul from Moordown
Should meet me at His right hand,
My heaven will be two heavens
In Immanuel's Land
'This,' said Abigail, 'Is my baby sister. Look at her sticking her tongue out at me!'
'I don't have to poke her eye out, but I can if I want!'
Abigail, Anna and Emma said 'My Grandad says we're the three most beautiful girls in the world' - but I really can't see what he sees in the other two!'
Emma Louise Benfold was born on January 3rd 2010, and is the image of her older sister. It's taken a little while to get a photo uploaded: some concern over Anna's health last week occupied all our time.
But here are two of our three granddaughters, pictured together for the first time. I look forward to adding a picture of all 3 - in fact, several pictures of all 3.
Stop the presses; the beautiful Anna May Morris is now Anna May Frederica Morris. 'May' was my mum's middle name, 'Frederick' was my dad, and Jo and Steve have honoured them by naming Anna after them.
Anna came home yesterday, Monday, and seems exceptionally well. Abigail met her and gave her a brief kiss before returning to Postman Pat. The dogs met her too, but were probably a bit less impressed.
Announcing the safe arrival of Anna May Frederica Morris, 29.8.09. Anna means 'grace' and May means 'longed for child' - she's certainly that. We bless God. ('Frederick' was my Dad's name, May was Mum's middle name, and the gracious parents have chosen to honour them in this way.) Here's a picture, with joyous and beautiful Mum Joanne:
